Welcome to the twentieth anniversary of the Vineman Triathlon! In March of 1990 I and the handful of other early organizers were busy putting together a huge mailing of our first entry form, which featured the image on this blog entry. The first Vineman Triathlon was held on August 4, 1990. Three hundred and twenty individual entrants and thirty relay teams competed in that first Full Vineman.
As the race director for that first event, I've done my best to remember the good parts and forget the overwhelming details of being a twenty-three year old from Kansas starting up an ironman distance triathlon from scratch in Northern California.
